My basement Beerfrigerator is burping forth its backlog in the hopes of emptying to be refilled again. This one came back with me from a long-ago visit to the Mondial de la Biere in Montreal. It hearkens to a pre-CANQuest (tm) era as it is in a Bottle (gasp!).

From the Bottle: "Boréale Cuivrée Pure Malt Strong Ale"; "Fresh, real, the best we can be[.]"; "Our mission at Les Brasseurs Du Nord is to brew distinctive

I was frustrated to discover, upon Pop!ping the cap, that it was one of those screwed-up screw-on caps! Grr. I then exercised great restraint with respect to my slow, gentle pour since I did not want to rouse the lees that were evident on the kick/punt. I did not get much more than wisps for head as a result, despite loads of tight, tiny bubbles being in evidence. Color was Deep-Amber/Light-Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a caramel-like sweetness, bordering on toffee. Mouthfeel was medium. It had a maltiness that was about as sweet as I care to drink. The taste was surprisingly less sweet than the nose had suggested. Now, it was very evocative of toffee, vice caramel & there is definitely a difference. I could easily envision this grain bill being distilled into a nice whisky. Mmm. Finish was semi-sweet & quite pleasant. It had held up really well, but I would recommend drinking it fresh, if you are able to find it. YMMV.

Boreale Cuivree

The look of it: Amber color. Light carbonation

The smell of it: Some spicies and some caramel Aroma but it is really light.

The taste of it: You find again the caramel and some spicies. Very sweet but very pleasant. The 6,9 % ABV you won t feel it. A bit watery on the after taste. The feeling of it is not bad at all.
So overall would I recommend it ? For sure. This is one of the best Boreale you can drink. Much better than the doree or the blonde from Boreale. This is tasty, very well made beer. Enjoy it !

12 oz bottle. Pours amber with short lived white head and lively carbonation. Aroma is of caramel malt, ripe fruit and herbal hops. Body is medium and smooth. Earthy hops, caramel malt and fruity esters combine on the palate. Long finish becomes dry through alcohol. Somewhat sweet, but nice brew.

Had this on tap at Le Fripon.

Huge showing of hanging lacing all the way to the bottom. Color of the body is a troubled orange Dry hops, lingering tea-like bitterness, bit piney, lots of dry orange. Pleasantly surprised by this one. I`d session this for sure.
