Lasting beige head. Plentiful lacing in the form of rings and descending streaks. Deep dark brown where the liquid allows faint (bright) light to shine through.

Powerful coffee smell. There's a bit of ash to the nose as well. No chocolate or cream at all.

There's a mild sweetness which cuts into the bitter coffee flavor. Black coffee dominates throughout the tasting. The aftertaste is shorter than expected given the strength of the coffee flavor. Although I'm no fan of coffee, this beer successfully delivers what it intends to.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a five sample flight. It poured an opaque dark with tan head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had subtle coffee notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with subtle roast and dark chocolate presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.
