Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. No date on the can that I can see.
Appearance: pale golden hue with a little bit of haze and a finger of frothy ivory foam.
Smell: lightly sweet malt with a little bit of grainy corniness and a lovely noble hop character. I get just a hint of the corn: it’s not like corn pops like a lot of macro corn lagers. Subtle and enticing.
Taste: this is really characterful! Like a nice Czech pale lager, but with notes of corn and a little bit more grainy astringency. The sweetness is well-balanced, though, and the hops have the right amount of grassy freshness to round it all out. Bitterness is there, but not too high. It’s pretty good!
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess. Who’da thunk? A corn lager with a nice smooth texture.
Overall: this beer is refreshing and really flavorful considering its lightness. At the end of the day, it’s still a corn lager, but it’s very well executed one!

great stuff, unique as the easygoing lagers are concerned, done in collaboration with heirloom rustic ales, who i only know from collaborations, never had one of theirs on its own i dont think. clever beer here, thoughtful, done with heirloom white and blue corn, no limes at all i dont think despite the name, and with some unique hops, motueka with the more classic hallertau, cool! blonde to golden from the pint can, not quite clear, but very frothy headed and with nice head retention, a little more to this than most, which i am into. the aroma is tight, well lagered, with more earthy minerality from the corn than expected, less of the classic kind of yellow corn sweetness many of these have, a deeper grain complexion in general, some pils type malt apparent too, subtle citrus and green melon from the hops, a white wine wrinkle, but this isnt particularly hoppy, its just well accented by the hops, doughy kind of almost german lager yeast character to me, and all of this also applies to the flavor, which follows the nose in step. the corn is cool in here, very distinctive, subtle as it is, almost a corn flour or masa vibe, rustic and old worldy, its obvious that its not the standard for this style, and thats awesome. the lager yeast has a lot of character too and makes this more complex overall than i think i expected it to be, maybe trace lime, honeydew, and lemongrass to the hops, but actual grass too, the noble part is obvious, but so is the new zealand part, an ideal combination for this and well restrained on the dosage, no real bitterness or anything, more hops would mean less corn, and that would be a bad tradeoff. cool showcase of this corn, well made lager, fluffy puffy slightly fuller body but totally effervescent feeling too, i could crush these indefinitely. havent had a nearly enough fast fashion beers, this one is smart and well executed with cool ingredients, loved it! not just a summer drinker either, sturdy enough to still work perfectly here in winter time!

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Clear golden pour, abundant foamy white head. Grainy, bready aroma with a citrusy edge. A tiny burst of lime hits the taste buds at first, then turns over to some nice crisp hops on top of the pale malts. Really tasty.

Pours a clear yellow with plenty of foam in the New Belgium snifter. Prickly and fills the mouth with suds. Flavor of grain, cornbread, and then some herbal hops. Some fruity notes and a tang of citrus. There is even a slight bitter aftertaste which goes well with the malty and slightly sweet flavors.
Actually quite drinkable and certainly distinctive for the category. Maybe it's the power of suggestion, but the stupid-sounding name actually makes sense-- this stuff does taste like a Lager that had that last squeeze of lime and then lime peel dragged through it. Not sure how old this is. From the back of the cooler at Special Brews.
