In a world of haze, pastry, smoothie and milkshake, Atrium steps away from the trends and basques is tradition. Their Vienna-styled lager give the beer scene exactly what it needs- sensibility.
And its with a light honey-amber pour that Velcro Sneakers hits the glass and forms a soft and pillowy eggshell froth. As its supple floral, spicy and sweeter scent rises toward the nose, a malty focus of toasty, nutty and honeysuckle starts the show. Expectedly sweet to taste, a focus on honey, candied pecan and grapenuts cereal provide a malty bridge from aroma to taste.
Remaining malty throughout, the sweetness starts to relax on the middle palate and allows for a light and spicy hop balance to bring an herbal, peppery and leafy taste to soothe the honey-like malts and to bring a sense of dryness. Bubbles give life to the hops as they do barely more than take an edge off of the otherwise cloying finish.
Slightly sweeter and with a bit more weight than your average Boston Lager, Velcro Sneakers bridges the difference between Vienna lager and other red ale.
