Birthdays are meant for selfish decisions. But when the collection of decisions bring birthday cake, lemon cake, blackberry and raspberry cobbler, oh, and pomegranate smoothie then its clear that an Atrium beer is in need.
Rusty mauve and matte with a heavy silt, Reaper's Eye catches out eye with a smoothie appearance and a soft pink froth. As the scent of citrus, berry, cider and wine fill the nose, the cereal filled fruitiness of the ale brings a taste of pie filling, cobbler and pastry tart with a backdrop of green apple, white grape, lime and gooseberry with a creamy wrap of vanilla cream and macerated fruit. Tart for balance, the late taste is tantalizing with lactic acidity for a remarkably drinkable finish.
Full bodied, creamy and plush on the palate, notions of sherbet and creamsicle come with a strong berry smoothie for extra measure.
