Everyone needs a cake for their birthday, but brewers aren't exactly baker. So rather than baking up a cake Atrium brewers are brewing up a cake. Slathered with strawberry, key lime, cheesecake, vanilla, pie crust and lactose, the palate won't miss all the dessert.
5th Birthday Cheesecake Boy kicks the party off with a pale and rosy haze topped with a dainty icing creme. As the scent of birthday cake and all it's confectionary fruitiness fill the nose, the bakery perfume extends into savory, nearly butter aromas as well. Candied sweetness splashes the tongue bringing all that powdered sugar delight along with candied fruit, vanilla cake, and background hints of cheesecake. With no bitterness in sight, the ale relies on acidity to balance the lasting sweetness and bring an element of refreshing sourness to the finish.
Full for sour ale but medium bodied overall, the pastry sour finishes drier than expected and with a lasting taste of birthday cake and citrusy tartness.
