While this is not technically my first beer from Origin, it is my first review. I stopped in for the first time last weekend while I was at Buttonwoods and liked what I had so I grabbed a mixed 4 pack to go. This one is a sparkling Grisette with 2 different kinds of grape must, so I’m excited to see what it’s like. Let’s get into it
Pours a pale yellow with 3 fingers of rocky off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves minimal lacing
The grape is evident in the nose, but it’s also very earthy. I’m picking up on aromas of earthy white wine, bready malt, white pepper, tart white grape, honey, and a touch of apple skin
Oh wow, this is much more tart and fruity in taste, and it’s honestly awesome. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting sour grape, apple skin, crackery malt, tannic white wine, and a touch of floral hops. The swallow brings notes of earthy white wine, crackery malt, white pepper, sour grape, floral hops, and a touch of honey
A light body pairs with moderate tingling carbonation, resulting in a crisp and tart beer. Finishes mostly dry and nicely balanced in the fruit profile
Oh man, this shit is great. This beer opened up the window to Origin being a contender for best brewery in the state for my journey of RI breweries. I can’t wait to have the dry hopped version!
