I had the non-DH version of this the other day and thought it was just fantastic. Super sessionable but with a ton of flavor and tartness still. Naturally, I am very excited to try this one now, though I find myself wishing I had tried them side-by-side to get a true comparison, but oh well. Let's get into it
Pours a cloudy pale yellow with 3 fingers of rocky off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves minimal lacing
This is extremely tart and citrusy in the nose, a character that the dry hop has definitely amplified. I'm picking up on aromas of tart white grape, tart mango juice, lemon zest, earthy white wine, crackery malt, floral hops, and orange zest
While the OG version was much more tart in taste compared to the aroma, this one is about equal, and still damn good. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting tart white grape, tart pineapple, orange zest, earthy white wine, bready malt, stone, and light floral hops. The swallow brings notes of tart mango juice, tannic white wine, peppery hops, crackery malt, sour grape, and lemon juice
A light body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a crisp and refreshing beer. Finishes dry with a nice but not overwhelming tartness
Wow, what an awesome beer, even better than the OG! A few takeaways aside from this being awesome: we need more Grisettes, it needs to be a style on here, and Origin is quickly becoming one of my favorite breweries in the state
