The Riwaka dry hopped version of Riesling & Rkatsiteli Woven that Origin put out last summer was by far my favorite beer from them. This is a new iteration that I am very excited to try. They bumped up the abv considerably from 3.3% to 5%, but I’m sure this one will still be a crusher
Pours a mostly clear reddish pink with 2 fingers of pinkish white head that fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing
The nose is quite gentle, but has a nice tart bite to it. I’m picking up on aromas of tart cherry, lime zest, jucy strawberry, bready malt, grass, raw grain, and white grape
It’s similarly gentle in taste, but perhaps a bit more floral rather than tart. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart cherry, floral hops, lemon zest, lime zest, grass, light blackberry, and red grape. The swallow brings notes of tart cherry, lime zest, white pepper, floral hops, lemon juice, grass, red grape, and light strawberry
A light medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes a tad sticky but dries out over time
While this is nowhere close to either of the Woven’s they put out last year, this is still solid. I don’t think the abv bump was necessary as it takes away from the drinkability, but it’s fine
