This is my first proper Saison from Origin, but if it's anything like their Grisette, Woven, then this has to be good. I can't say I've ever seen lemon balm used as an adjunct so I'm intrigued by this one. Let's crack it open and find out what it's all about
Pours a clear pale yellow with a finger of soapy white head that quickly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
This is very grainy but also extremely bright. I'm picking up on aromas of cereal grain, wet hay, wildflower honey, lemon zest, bread crust, earthy wheat, orange zest, and light pear
It has even more of a snap to it in taste, I really dig this. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting earthy wheat, orange zest, grass, wildflower honey, bread crust, raw grain, lemon balm, and light lime zest. The swallow brings notes of lemon balm, lime zest, grassy hops, basil, wildflower honey, wet hay, crackery malt, and earthy wheat
A light medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a crisp beer. Finishes mostly dry and refreshing
Unsurprisingly we have another winner from Origin. They really excel at these subtle beers
