A beautifully session-able Dry Irish Stout with zero adjuncts. Expect a full roasty malt bill dripping in black coffee, dark chocolate, and background hints of mixed berry fruitiness.

I drank a Guinness draft about an hour before Choppy and Choppy is no Guinness. The dryness does not compare. Nor does the experience, although both were exhilarating. (I had Guinness at Bentjeman Arms at glorious St. Pancras station. And I had Choppy while looking out the rained-on window at 180MPH at the northern French countryside.)
Choppy Looks average, no lasting foam or lace. Smells and Tastes are as much about pastry as they are roasted malts; balanced, but this recipe is not likely to evolve into a competitor of Guinness' quality. Chewy, but still only medium mouthed. I'm less enamoured of the gritty cacao nibs than the brewer.
This is my first from Drop Project. And they seem like cool guys and are dedicated to the craft and the environment. But they just closed their taproom and they don't seem to have attracted much attention on BA, although they do have some 31k+ Unique Check-ins on Untapped. So they must be doing something right and I give them good Overall Hugs in the hopes they continue doing that.
