West Coast IPA.
D.O.P.E. is a Dank Overpowering Pale Elixer, brewed as a modern West Coast IPA, with some of the grunge, that got lost in the sauce of the big tropical fruit forward hop varietals that dominate the IPA scene today. Hopped hot side with Columbus, Simcoe, and Columbus Cryo - we laid down a potent base for a double dry hop of even more pungent and stimulating hops. Post fermentation, we burned one down, then dumped in copious bags of Mosaic, Comet, & Nelson + more Mosaic, Columbus, and Nelson (of the cryo variety). The resultant beer reeks of dank blueberry, Sauvignon Blanc skins, grapefruit zest, and the Dopesmoker album by SLEEP.

Had D.O.P.E. poured from pint can, no date, imported from Cali. by little bro', into nonic pint.
Pours straw-gold with clarity and 1-finger near-white head, with excellent retention, leaving thick rings of lace down the glass. Aromas of sweet lime and white wine grape off pour, joined by a little spice aroma, then growing and continuing blueberry aroma, with some herbals and a bit of pine resin as warms. On tasting, begins biting lime and sweet stone fruit, with a little bitter grapefruit, which carries over a hint of mild pilsner malt, and becomes rather white wine-like, before a mildly bitter, somewhat piney, more herbal, a bit sparkling wine-like, nicely drying, biting finish.
An oddly pale beer, and it really doesn't have a West Coast IPA vibe (it's rather more sophisticated), but for once a beer tastes to me like the brewer's claim: "dank blueberry, Sauvignon Blanc skins, grapefruit zest."

On tap at Windsor Homebrew Supply, Anaheim, CA.
Golden hue. Fluffy white head. Solid retention, scattered clumpy lacing.
Nose is weedy with tinges of onion.
Flavor starts with the weed and onion. Hints of pine and lighter notes of blueberry and citrus rind. Mild bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is spot on for style with a long, dry finish.
