Oak aged märzen

Collaboration with Green Cheek Beer Company

That moment when you realize you have more in common with your friends than you thought, and you're both brewing beer out of the same unit number. When we were thinking of what to brew up with Green Cheek Beer Co. we wanted something unique and out of the ordinary. Our love of lagers and Oktoberfest led us to Märzen, but with a fun twist of Creative Oak cubes. Complex layers of brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, and oak flourish over this amber lager, with base notes of rye bread and biscuit

Poured from fridge temp. Pours a nice dark brown with white head. The nose is wonderful. Sweet toffee, molasses, red grapes, lots of malts, wheat, and a bit of apple. The taste is nice and crisp. Very smooth with light notes of strawberry jam, toffee, freshly baked bread, maple, a bit of vanilla, and a slight hoppy note. Woody and nutty notes start to come through with a bit of warmth. This is a light easy drinker and a great take on the marzen. I would definitely buy again.

Pours a lovely clear amber color with a one finger frothy tan head on the beer. Aroma has notes of rye bread, biscuit, brown sugar, subtle dark fruit notes, with light oaky notes. Its very nice on the nose.

The aromas translate to the flavor profile with notes of rye bread, pumpernickel, oak, woody tannic notes, subtle dark fruit, toffee brown sugar with light spicy hop notes on the back end. This is really enjoyable - the underlaying märzen profile is very nice and the oak aging ass this woody, tannic like character that I am really enjoying. Feel is light to medium bodied, smooth, with a somewhat drier finish. Moderate carbonation.

Overall this was a really nice märzen - I thoroughly enjoyed it and would happily drink it again.
