Schnapsidee is brewed with German Perle (subtle mint and pine) and German grown Tettnang (herbal, floral); creating a smooth, rich, amber lager with notes of baked bread, honey, toast, and subtle caramel. It’s the perfect lager to help ring in the end of summer. What does Schnapsidee mean?!?! “Hold my beer as I go do something I probably wouldn’t had I not been drinking this beer.”

This one is a little different than most American beers of the style.
It has the normal flavors, but has more hints of earth, herbal and wood. It's not very sweet and is more bitter actually. It finishes slightly dry and has a mild bitter earthy herbal lingering after taste.
I will give it a 4.07/5

16oz can. Bottom stamp for dating reads 'CANNED ON 08/22/23'.
Clear, medium amber colored body. Two fingers of off white head, which recedes to a thin cap and ring. Left behind are wide horizontal bands of lacing.
Aroma of baked bread, honey, caramel, and herbal/floral hops.
Taste is baked bread with caramel, honey, and herbal hops. The hops lend a slight bit of bitterness. Malts linger in the aftertaste.
Medium mouth feel. Clean finish. Very good carbonation.
Sweet beer that tastes like dark baked bread. Slight bitterness for balance. Looks and tastes like fall.

Appearance: Pours a dark, amber color iwth a strong light tan head. SRM of 16. (4.25)

Aroma: Strong aroms of rich bread, earthy caramel, light woodsy notes. (3.75)

Flavor: Strong flavors of rich bread milk, smooth caramel in German Munich mulch. Lightly toasted, woodsy have to finish. Some white dry. (4.25)

Feel: Medium bodied, average carbonation, leans dryer on the finish. (4.00)

Compared to Venn Fest 9/2023: Pours darker, stronger aromas. More toasted amber and caramel notes. Less cream and buttermilk. More toasted and flavorful. Winner: Schnapsidee

Overall: Pleasantly surprised by this one and trying it for the first time. It's dark, amber, toasty, yet dry and clean. Tons of flavor as well. Very impressive here. (Rating: 4.11)
