Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. It looks like there's a date stamp on the can, but I can't read it.
Appearance: dark orange hue with lots of haze and a finger of frothy dark-ivory foam. Definitely darker and, uh, orange-ey-er than most examples of the style that I've seen.
Smell: quite malty with a bit of a toasty character. I wouldn't be surprised if there are oats in here too. Hops add a tropical fruity character, although overall the effect is a little cloying.
Taste: moderately sweet, with again that kinda thick malt flavor. A bit juicy, but the tropical fruit is kinda dull in character and doesn't quite come together for me.
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a good carbonation and a good creaminess.
Overall: it's not a bad beer, necessarily, but by the high standards of hazy IPAs, it's definitely toward the bottom of the list.
