Two issues confusing me on rating this. First, the can says nothing about this Parisian brewpub. The can says the brewery (which UnTappd confirms) is on the Mediterranean down towards Toulouse. Second, brewing an Irish stout in a Mediterranean climate and brewing for that table seems to be ambitious. But Untappd lists 398 brews, so Fauve (or Les Cuves) is ambitious. So why not brew a style from a rainy climate of a sometimes dreary culture? Nonetheless for being ambitious and brewing to pair with the kitchen, I give Cuves (Fauve) very good Overall Hugs. They also show lots of art, Fauve and more.
Avalanche Noire is less ambitious in its Looks. Designed to be a Nitro in the pub, it Looks average poured from a can. Also the style typically Smells roasted and Avalanche not so much. Tastes are balanced, not too sweet and malts provide some of the dry finish. Light and not as smooth as some of the better Irish Drys.
