It is with emotion that we present to you our interpretation of the true French beer style: the Bière de Garde, in an amber version. Brewed with carefully selected French malts and Elixir hops from Alsace, it has matured beautifully with an iconic cellar. Long live beer and long live France!

Many of the same issues with my review yesterday. The label (and website) is only in French (thanks Google for translating.) Also, UnTappd has Fauve brewing in the south of France. But UnTappd does not have this among Fauve's 415 brews.
I bought this at London's Beer Merchants. Ambree' Looks that way, tho more foam would help in a re-release. Smells are mostly malt, but I don't expect (or want) more from this style. Tastes are balanced with hops lingering faintly in the finish. Medium-mouthed as there is more ABV (and hence malt) than typical of the style. But I drank it at the table with basil pesto on pasta and it is suitable. And I'd enjoy again.
Fauve's very good Overall Hugs from me is due to their dedication to brewing in the heart of wine country. But, they are too ambitious in interpreting too many styles globally to get to be a really good micro. However, biere' de Garde is a style they should focus on... primarily because North American micros have been keeping the style alive. Rebuilding the French market is only fair. I am looking forward to a Podges tour of Biere De Gardes native terroir starting in Calais.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
