What If we brewed an everyday hazy IPA that you just knew was your “go-to” beer? Mr. Reliable in a can! What If it was also clean and balanced? We’ve been contemplating what our flagship IPA recipe should taste like since the time Alternate Ending was nothing more than an idea on the back of a napkin. We knew we wanted something that was crushable, yet also remain true to a traditional IPA with notes of pine and citrus. What If, What If? was really YOUR favorite Alternate Ending? It might even end up on this can in the future. Drink, pontificate, and discuss...

16oz can. Bottom stamp reads 'WHAT IF JHOEL WAS ACTUALLY OTTO? FEB/18/2025 #398', about twelve weeks in the can.
Hazy, pale gold colored body. Three fingers of large bubble head with the pour, and this becomes a partial cap and high ring. Leaves behind partial walls of lacing.
Aroma of pine, melon, and citrus (orange and lemon). Whiffs of pineapple and berry.
Taste is a comfortable sweetness. Big lemon and orange flavors, along with green melon, pineapple, strawberry, mint, and a touch of onion. Some pine, but less than in the nose. Aftertaste loses most of the sweetness and gets a bite from grapefruit pith and rind.
More than medium mouthfeel. Light and soft texture. Medium bitterness level but is tempered by the fruit. Excellent carbonation.
Is hazy and soft but stays away from a taste of too sweet, overripe fruit. Hard candy sweetness, which is enjoyable. Good toasted malt base too, and this adds to the density of the flavors. Repeatable, does not fatigue the palate.

What If? pours a hazy golden color with a larger, long-lasting lacing head. The aroma has notes of earth and pine, as well as dried fruit. The flavor has more pungent dried fruit notes and a hint of bitterness. Good feel. It is an above-average hazy IPA with pleasant dried fruit notes and a little less on the sweeter side.

Pours a pale gold, mostly opaque with a moderate head. Not a whole lot of aroma, some citrus. Decently complex flavors, lot of citrus, with medium sweetness and a fair bitterness. Medium mouthfeel.

Pours a cloudy yellow orange with a finger of foamy head that slowly dissipates to a thin ring with a little lacing. Aroma of pineapple and citrus. Taste follows nose.

I'm at around a dozen different Alternate Ending beers and this one is my favorite. A DDH New England style IPA that looks the part with a hazy gold pour. The nose and flavors are juicy--citrus, melon prominent--with a nice sustained dry finish. Pair this with the Detroit-style pizza on premises in Aberdeen, and you've got Satisfaction Guaranteed.

Sampled a pint on tap. Pours a golden, effervescent hue with moderate frothing. Mild aroma replete with notes of fresh pear and white grape. Similar overall flavor profile. Refreshing.

2d of brewer by Act 25. Another (a) For appearance, for being creamy head that lasts and laces over a hazed yellow-gold body.
s) too faint. Aroma and (t) Taste are of clover and fresh cut grass, flowery hops, malt and some melon and citrus.
f) creamy, crisp, refreshing, abv hidden, goes down easy, good food beer.
o) Mainstream NEIPA, well made, + for looks.
