From Beermiscuous. There are three Azadi beers on BA and I added all three. What's with you guys? Leaving all the work to me, a retired old man. Anyway, UnTappd entered this beer six weeks ago and has 48 ratings @ a 3.82 average; so somebody likes Summertime Chai other than me.
First, I note a hint that craft beer is slowly becoming a global industry (as opposed to a northern country industry.) Summertime is the first collab I've seen with a North American micro and an Indian-inspired micro. Great State Ale Works is in Pune, Maharashtra (listed on UnTappd in 2018.) Great State opens global options as most the collabs that I drink which are North Americans trying to play off of Belgian panache.
Second, Summertime is a decent and interesting beer. Decent in that it is refreshing. And interesting in that it is fruity, but finishes dry (the tea.) That combo reminds me of Off Color's Beer For Golf which mimics an Arnold Palmer (lemonade and tea.) So the refreshment is universal and, increasingly, micros are local with global influences.
Enough of the Big Picture. I am becoming a fan of Azadi and plan to visit them soon.
7/12/22 Visited them finally at their source, Pilot Project. Had Summertime on tap and it was refreshing on a warm summer day and a brew I'd like to try again.
