On tap at the brewery. Pours brown fluffy, off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of herbal hops, dark fruit, brown sugar, coffee and toasted malt. Body is medium and smooth. Taste is similar to aroma. Finish is long and semi-sweet. Tasty brew.

Pint on draught at the brewery the day after opening. It pours a very dark cola with a creamy, light khaki-colored head and long-lasting, soapy lacing. The smell features roasted malt, caramel, leather, and earthy char. I was pleasantly surprised by how dry and bitter it drinks. I was expecting more caramel sweetness but the taste is dominated by baker's chocolate, burnt nuts and cigar ash. I really like that it's not overly sweet. The mouth feel is lite and crisp with a pleasant level of carbonation. And at 5.5% ABV it's highly quaffable. Blue Chip is a great pub beer. A very nice recipe, well executed. Its whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I look forward lots of sociable pints of this English Brown Ale.
