Intense roasted flavors of coffee and chocolate. The high ABV adds a small alcohol warming. Originally this style is accredited to British porter that was very popular in Russian Imperial Court.

On draught at the brewery two days after release. Served in a pint glass. It pours a dark mahogany with a modest, creamy, light mocha head and spotty lacing. A pleasant aroma of chocolate, freshly-brewed coffee, earthy, nutty char, and a whiff of dark fruit. The taste opens with lots of flavorful chocolate; it's initially quite sweet but balanced by bitter, earthy notes. There's also an intriguing hint of black cherry deep in the back. As it warms in the glass I notice more coffee. It finishes quite dry with considerable bitterness (55 IBU). The flavors are bold and blend very well. The mouth feel is moderately thick and creamy with a good level of carbonation, and it's very easy to drink for 9.5% ABV. Overall, I'm very impressed! Bull N Bear has every reason to be proud of its first stout (the brewery has only been open for a couple of months). It's very tasty and a pleasure to drink. I really hope it becomes part of the brewery's regular rotation.
