A nice Irish red. Malty sweet. Pours red with a thick white head. Mild aroma, malty sweet taste. Good feel, rich and full. Overall, tasty.

Pint on draught at the brewery. It pours a cloudy, dark, rosy red color with a thin, ecru head and spotty lacing. The nose is malty with caramel, toffee, cola, and a touch of fruitiness that is hard to describe. Its taste opens with caramel malt but the candy sweetness is quickly offset by earthy, peaty notes, which give it nice depth. There's also a wee bit o spice at the finish. This ale has a lot more flavor than I had anticipated. The mouth feel is lite and crisp with fairly lively carbonation, and it's super drinkable at 5.5% ABV. Overall, I'm really impressed by this offering. I was expecting something fairly pedestrian but there's a lot of flavor. Don't drink it too quickly as it evolves in the glass.
