10 oz. pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a snulip glass. It pours a bright, clear honey color with a thin, eggshell colored head and spotty lacing. The smell is pungent, sweet and malty with floral, bitter hops. Its taste follows the nose with lots of malt sweetness balanced by spicy, resinous pine, and a hint of lemon. The Zeus and Northern Brewer hops provide a strong dose of bitterness. This ale has a rich, creamy mouth feel with appropriate carbonation and the 9% ABV gives it lots of substance. Overall, Double Leverage is a great example of what I refer to as a "southern" style IPA: It has the bitterness of a traditional West Coast IPA but more malt sweetness than citrus. It's very good; one of the best beers of this style I've had in New Jersey.
