Hefeweizen or "yeast wheat" is a German style lager brewed with wheat and barley and German noble hops. The yeast esters provide light notes of banana.

Pint on draught at the brewery. It pours a cloudy, golden-straw color with a thin, ecru-colored head and modest lacing. The smell is spot-on: banana, lemon, coriander, clove, and yeasty esters. While all of the aromas of a hefe are present, they're understated. The Belgian spicing is front and center in the taste with the fruit in the background. The clove and coriander are sharp and there's surprising hop bitterness for the 15 IBU. The fruit starts to emerge as it warms but it's mostly lemon; I'm not getting much banana or apple. It has a nice, clean, spicy, slightly bitter, finish. Its mouth feel is very crisp and lite with lively carbonation, and with an ABV of 5% it's crushable. Overall, Hedge Fund Hefe is nicely done. It's on the dry side which is fine by me. It was very refreshing on a hot, humid, August afternoon
