Gourd N Gecko Pumpkin Ale

Reviewed on day of draught release. Served in pint glass with a maple syrup and sugar rim. Its color is a deep, murky, orange-brown and it sports a thick, creamy, eggshell-colored head and extensive, long-lasting lacing. The aromatic nose offers strong, fragrant, fresh pumpkin with abundant earthy spice notes. It's a wonderful smell. The taste is fantastic! It features rich, dense pumpkin flesh that is mildly sweet but also tart. The spicing is the real deal with nutmeg, clove, allspice, and ginger. The spices are flavorful but also fairly bitter. This is not a sweet, fruity ale. The mouth feel is luxuriously thick and creamy with lite/moderate carbonation, and it's a big package for 6.5% ABV. The brewer told me that they intend to make an imperial version next year which will be amazing. Overall, I've never had a Pumpkin Ale better than Gourd N Gecko. It is right there with Cigar City's Good Gourd. I think the imperial version will rival Prairie's Basic Becky. It's that good.
