A: silky dark black and dark murky brown 1 finger tan head that fades quick

S: lightly roasted malts and brown sugar. Molasses and milk chocolate

T: big hit of roasted malts and cola upfront. Milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Wood, brown sugar and some roasty bitterness. A touch of milky sweetness. Touch of a metallic note at the end

M: medium with high-medium carbonation

O: tasty beer that I’d call slightly above average. A bit of a cola presence but nice roast. Mouthfeel could use a bit more I feel like but this is a real nice cold weather sipper

Pours black with a few fingers of khaki tan foam. Head retention is great. Aroma is nutty, roasty, toasty, and earthy malts. The roast really cuts through the mix, bringing with it a stringy bitterness. Chocolate adds a little mellow sweetness. Chocolate notes start to expand a little further as the beer warms, smoothing out some of that initial bitterness. Flavor profile is milk chocolate drizzled over roasty, toasty, and caramely malts. It's not overly sweet, but it does have a little smooth sweetness throughout. The chocolate note really helps smooth out the underlying malts to form a playful ice rink. Depth isn't huge, offering a brief breadth of notes. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a decadent initial velvety, creamy texture. As the beer sits on the palate, it breaks down to a more prickly effervescence. Overall, smooth, stable, and chocolate forward. It's an easy drinking stout that promotes smoothness and simplicity above alcohol, heartiness, or depth. For these reasons, it drinks remarkably smooth, as both a sipper and a gulper.

Served in a 15.5oz Spiegelau tulip from a 16oz can.

Reviewed 5 days after can release. Poured into a pint glass at 55°. It pours a deep mahogany with cola hues at the bottom of glass, and it sports and substantial, fluffy, light khaki-colored cap and thick lacing. The fragrant smell features roasted malt, cocoa, a whiff of caramel, and some earthy, bitter notes. The taste opens with fairly sweet cocoa balanced by dry barley cracker and burnt, nutty char. As it warms there is a hint of honey which I assume comes from the East Kent Goldings hops. The Fuggle hops contribute a clean, mild bitterness akin to an English pub beer. What's intriguing is the hint of dark fruit - almost a sour black cherry - in the background. The flavors blend very nicely. For a Milk Stout it has a rich, creamy mouth feel with low/moderate carbonation. While the 6% ABV gives it good substance, it's very easily drinkable. It's big enough to pair with pub food but lite enough to drink a couple of pours casually. Overall, Love Money is impressive and worth seeking out.
