This hazy IPA creation is hopped with Bru-1 and Sabro providing pineapple, citrus and tropic notes. The present malt provides the canvas and the zesty yeast the frame for the hops to paint its bowl of fruit.

Pint pour at the brewery one week after release. It pours an opaque, murky, muddy, pastel yellow with a modest, eggshell-colored head and lacing. A classic New England look. The nose offers ripe melon, lemon, grapefruit, and pineapple. As it warms a bit in the glass I'm also smelling coconut and a whiff of red berry. The initial taste is primarily lemon, grapefruit, and a crackery malt. However, as it warms the flavor becomes more complex and I really notice the coconut from the Sabro hops. It's distinct but subtle. The pineapple notes from the Bru-1 hops also emerge slowly. There is additional oat sweetness that balances the dry cracker of wheat an Pisner malt. The use of CTZ hops in the boil contributes a spicy bitterness throughout. Don't drink it too fast as the balance of flavors becomes more evident as it warms in the glass. The mouth feel is great: nicely creamy with fairly lively carbonation, and the 7.2% ABV gives it good substance. Overall, Chrazy Hazy is the first true New England IPA offered by Bull n Bear and it's well-conceived and executed.
