A rare French style, "Biere de Garde" roughly translates to "beer for keeping". A malt forward beer without being cloyish. Brewed with a blend of Pilsner and Belgian grains, Belgian Golden yeast and hopped with Fuggle and Saaz.

On draught at the brewery. Served in a tulip glass. It pours a dark brownish apricot color with a thin, ecru-colored cap and soapy lacing. The big, fragrant smell includes banana, apple, spicing, and tobacco smoke. Its taste is complex with a solid base of sweet malts balanced with banana, apple, raisin, and smoky peat. The yeast and spicy have a distinctly Belgian flavor. It finishes with significant dry bitterness. This ale is full-bodied and moderately carbonated and the 7.3% ABV is surprisingly potent. Overall, this is a terrific offering. First, I praise Bull N Bear for brewing this rather obscure style. And they did a very good job. It offers great depth of flavor and a great aroma. It's a very fine offering.
