Overdraft

On draught at the brewery. Pint pour in a shaker glass. It pours a deep, dark mahogany color with a creamy, light mocha head and elegant swirls of lacing. An appealing nose with milk chocolate, oatmeal cookie, vanilla/caramel, and nuts. The taste follows. It's roasty and fairly bitter up front with baker's chocolate and nutty char. However, as it warms there is increasing oaty and caramel sweetness that balances the initial bitterness. It's nicely balanced with good depth of flavor. It has a very pleasant mouth feel: thick and creamy with moderate carbonation, and the 5.7% ABV is just right for the style. It drinks easily but not too quickly. Overall, Overdraft is a fine example of the style. While I generally prefer bigger Stouts, I would gladly drink this one any time.
