Pours golden amber and is almost clear (SRM 6). The loose, fluffy head leaves sticky patches of almond lace on the walls of a pint glass.
The aroma is fragrant with funky yeast, earthy and floral hops. Fermented apples follow and dried straw rounds out the foreground. Coriander and mustard seeds blend with lemongrass in the background.
The flavors are relatively well-balanced with sweetness coming out ahead. Coriander and curry fill the middle of this unmistakable Farmhouse beer. The herbs are powerful. After a few minutes of warmth, the astringent finish mellows, allowing the herbs to linger through to the next sip.
Light to medium carbonation helps to hold a medium body. The texture is similar to jersey cotton, while the alcohol is well below expectations.
Rustic is a very appropriate adjective. This is a comforting and relaxed beer that would be perfect for a late Summer clam bake. The full pour from this crowler is far superior to the sample I had at the brewery. I enjoyed it on a covered porch while a little white dog sat by my side and the music of my wife's harp mixed with a light breeze and rustling leaves.
