This ESB from Church Brew Works pours a a woody ruby amber with some bright orange highlights. The frothy off white head holds decently well and leaves a small amount of lace.
Very mild in the nose but primarily malty with dim citrus and a faint nutty character. Mild hops are detectable but mostly dim in the aroma department. Not surprising for the style.
Nice, sweet, nutty caramel flavor along with some dim fruit: apple, citrus, and a hint of spice. Good floral hops provide some nice balance and a bit of bitterness. Much better than the nose implies. Very flavorful for an ESB. I'm usually not a huge fan of the style but this is very nice.
Bright and crisp but not because of the carbonation, rather more of a fresh nutty/floral mouthfeel. Lower carbonation and a hint of creaminess toward the finish. Mostly thick and mildly refreshing; a very palatable and easy to consume brew. Certainly a good session beer. Mild but flavorful and well balanced with a modest abv. A very tasty rendition of a classic English style.
