Served in the short tulip reserved for bigger beers. The color was black, with a nice thick tan head. The smell was a nice heavy malt. The taste was the very heavy/anise roasted malt character, and the just-tastable raspberry added to the overall taste rather than covering up the imperial stout character. Mouthfeel was thick and creamy. Drinkability-wise, could have plenty of these.

Another brilliant big beer from Bryan Pearson and the Church Brew Works. A rich and inviting imperial stout makes for a nice winter warmer, and this is a beer I'll certainly have in the future.

Carried out in a growler, definitely a big beer to have on the spot and I felt it would be enjoyable to take out for only twelve bucks. Appearance: Deep brown basically black doesn't let any light through it's opaque with a thin formed tan head doesn't stick around too long the higher abv gets to it leaves specks of lacing very then though. Aroma: Chocolate covered raspberries, dark chocolate slighty burnt ripened fruit this beer packs a wallop with a ton of malt. Taste: Raspberry infused blends very very well strong rich creamy dark chocolate tosted nuts, this beer kicks it up a notch and let's the alcohol come through in the flavor very nicely. Mouthfeel: Full bodied with syrupy tones this one is big a nice winter warmer perfect time of year to release, bravo to the folks at Church. Drinkability: Enticing dark imperial stout will definitely reel me back again with the perfect balance of flavor creating an incredibly drinkable brew, except for the 8.8 may get at you after a couple pints very tasty.
