The time was ripe for a Czech Dark Lager, just in time for winter. We may not have the same fourth quarter climate as The Czech Republic, but we do share the same passion for finely crafted lagers - and this cola hued pour with a tight khaki head is quite a fine substitute for a 6,000 mile jaunt to Central Europe in our opinion. At 4.2%, this is a light, toasty, nutty scented brew with nice character of whole grain crackers, unsweetened cocoa powder, and floral Saaz hops. It’s malt-forward with minimal roastiness and just a hint of coffee; smooth and balanced, medium-bodied without feeling heavy, and housing well-integrated carbonation. An all around pleasure to drink, look at, and more importantly, explore in our three traditional Czech-style pours!

I’m in-between… I want to stay up. No, I’ll go to bed. I’m thinking of her. I’m not thinking of her. I’m ready for the night. I want to be alone. I want to read. I’ll continue watching tv. I’ll rise for sunrise. Actually, I’ll wait for sunset instead… And this is where I’m at with Tmavé; first sip, like Jennifer Aniston’s career post Friends, I wasn’t too impressed. But as things moved on… Nope. This one is still pure Ross. Hungover or something, I can still watch Friends - just like I can still drink and will finish this beer. But overall, it’s just not the most satisfying.

Wow. Gorgeous in the glass.Deep amber tinged brown with a sandy head. Retention is amazing with pillowy lacing.
Nose is roasted malt that is both nutty and slightly nodding towards caramel. Some brown bread as well.
Flavor is more assertive than the nose. A firm roast begins with deep brown bread, some nuttiness, and a smooth, albeit light, coffee roast.
Mouthfeel is medium but has a wonderful presence that is like heft without weight. I know, contradictory. Good carbonation keeps it alive.

heavier than most in this category. thick, creamy and a beautiful pour. one of the most beautiful creamy heads i have seen! the description is dead-on and well-constructed. it's full and filling like you'd expect from a dark lager. and an Underberg, to boot, gives an added dimension of taste, especially with a smoke (which i so heartily miss but happy i dont anymore). i really like what this company is doing with beer.... few like it.... Greencheek and Radiant in Orange County are the genuinely best.....
