355 mL can from the LCBO; dated Mar 19 2022 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a hazy, translucent straw yellow colour, briefly topped with a finger of loose, bubbly white head that melts off within sixty seconds or so. A wide, sudsy collar and thin cap remain, with a modest band of lace left clinging to the glass - looks fine to me. The aroma is subtle, including hints of white grape, floral hops, lemon and something tropical - passion fruit, maybe.
It's a serviceable session IPA - tastes a bit diluted, but the fruity hop flavours are enjoyable enough. Grapefruit and lemon for the most part, with suggestions of lime zest and melon, followed by weakly floral, pithy hop bitterness on the back end; dry-ish aftertaste. Light in body, with lively carbonation that feels zippy and crisp on the tongue, lending a nice, palate-scrubbing bite to this light ale's mouthfeel. Very refreshing and thirst-quenching.
Final Grade: 3.63, a B grade. I had no real issues with Rally's Extra Mile - tossing it back was a cinch, and I could've tossed another back right afterwards. It's fine for what it is, but a little on the dull side overall - I'd take their Trail Blazer over this one, but I really have no truck with session IPAs to begin with, so I guess it comes down to personal preference. If you're looking for something hoppy and ultra-light, this might be a good starting point.
