The Rare Beer Club's November 2022 offering had four exclusives (or nearly so.) One was Scaldis Prestige which had a very limited presence here and only 8 check-ins on UnTappd (which tags it as a vintage of Scaldis Nuits, but possibly incorrectly as the barrels are different.) Anyhow, the base beer is Caractere and Oak barrel aged for 6 months and produces this complex pale-ish amber. The brewer's post-barrel bottling adds a shot of sugar and yeast and the ABV ends up around 13.
Five years past bottling, this ale lost some pizazz; but the complexity more than made up for it being on the downslope. While aromatics are an interesting fruit medley, the dark fruits are easier to pick out in the Taste; but the finish is balanced, particularly difficult to brew since I get this creamy dessert at the end that has vanilla bean prominence.
This is my sixth brew from Dubuisson and I don't recall going on their website, so I did. 9 generations of the same family !
So they have kept the tradition alive. And I shall try to help them more by repeating their brews here and updating my reviews.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
