The Seed: A Living Beer Project "Extra Place To Rest"
16 fl. oz. can, "CANNED ON: 6/21/23 12:14. FOR THE SHIRE". Sampled on 8/11/24.
$20 / 4-pack at the brewery on 11 August 2024
Notes via stream of consciousness: First off, I can't believe that this was canned over a year ago. It's far too fresh, hoppy, and not at all oxidized. My guess is that it was canned on 6/21/24 but who knows? Anyway, this is a double dry hopped version of "A Place To Rest", which is my favorite beer from them. It's a cloudy golden beneath a full head of white foam that holds well and leaves excellent lacing behind. The aroma is fruity, "dank", resinous, herbal, and floral. The flavor follows. The malt is sweet and oat-like. There's some hop burn to it, and the "dank", resinous, herbal, and even spicy notes step forward almost immediately. I like that, and I'm certainly OK with that, but I do prefer the softer and more fruity character of the standard "A Place To Rest". As far as fruit goes it's got some clear berry, orange/tangerine, nectarine, passion fruit, gooseberry, and lychee. Back to the other side of the hops I'm getting some cedar, earthiness, pine, and mint. It's a very complex brew to be sure. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp.
