Weyermann Brauerei GmbH "Imperial Stout"
,33L brown glass bottle coded "Mindestens haltbar bis: 07.10.2017". Sampled on 15 September 2017.
4,50€ @ Café Abseits, Bamberg, DE
Notes: Labeled at 7.6% ABV
Look: Opaque deep mahogany brown/black beneath a densely creamy cap of dark tan foam. Very good head retention and lacing.
Smell: Dark malts with chocolate and a touch of roastiness.
Taste: Richly flavorful and complex with notes of golden caramel, darker caramel, a medium-strong roastiness, light apple, mild grassy and spicy hops, and a hint of nuttiness. Some alcohol presence is there, and the bitterness is strong. It finishes with roastiness, dark chocolate, bitterness, and coffee lingering.
Overall: Well done, but in all honesty English brewers generally do it better.
