I swung by the Weyermann Brewery on 30SEP21 and picked up a 0.33l bottle of this in their fan shop - at €2.50. Quaffed it later that day in downtown Bamberg while enjoying the scenery.....
Poured into a 0.5l glass "borrowed" from the Schlenkerla pub, it was an extremely dark but clear mahogany color. Had some ruby/garnet highlights when held up to a strong back-light. Head was creamy and frothy, and mocha-colored, with good lacing. Had aromas of rich choco, cocoa and black cherries. Body was medium, and it felt light and airy; could have had more heft to it.
Taste had roasty malt flavors, with caramel, choco and cocoa to start. Then came more black cherry plus a hint of strawberry, before finishing on the dry side with some earthy hopping. Quite tasty! Prosit!
