500ml swingtop bottle acquired in the Weyermann "Fan Shop" after an English language tour. Cost was 2.50 euro plus a 2.50 euro "pfand" (deposit) which you get back when you return the bottle to the brewery. Reviewed live. Poured into a Kitzmann Weissbier glass.
A: Downward bubble show is pleasant and entertaining. Tan head is four fingers, with lovely cream, nice thickness, and good retention. Dark brown-black colour. Wonderful appeal.
Sm: Roast, smoke, and...yeast? What's that doing there?
T: Roasted barley, cream, and that's it. I'm sorely disappointed. Where is the smokey taste? Toffee? Chocolate? Anything often in a (good) porter? This beer is a disgrace to me second favourite style. Some caramel enters in on the climax. Nowhere near as complex as it needs to be. Balanced, but poorly built. I wanted so much more.
Mf: Smooth and wet, with a nice coarse curtail near the finish (but post-climax).
Dr: Easy drinking, especially for the ABV, but nothing special. Will disappoint porter fanatics like me.

Via Caml's notes and under his supervision:
Bottle into my prized De Molen goblet.
Appearance is a deep mahogany brown, slightly cloudy, with some signature porter ruby light visible around the edges. Head is small and dissipates quickly.
Aroma strikes a fine balance between smoked and roasty/chocolately deliciousness.
Taste largely follows the nose's balance, though cold it's more portery, warm, more smokey. High-for-a-porter ABV is well-hidden.
Little carbonation in the mouthfeel, as the app. would suggest. Smooth and coating.
DB is commendable, though the ABV and general complexity would certainly send me in search of lighter fare after more than a bomber's worth.
