500ml swingtop bottle acquired at the Weyermann pilot brewery "fan shop" after an English language tour of their malt roast production process. Cost was 2.50 Euro plus 2.50 pfand (deposit), which is rather steep by Bamberg standards. Served into a .3l halleroder bierkrug at me friend's gaff in Bamberg. Reviewed live. 'Honigbier' translates to "Honey beer".

A: Pours a four finger head of nice cream, decent thickness, and above average retention. Colour is a nontransparent cloudy mead-gold. Somewhat appealing.

Sm: I smell honey but I was looking for it. I might have missed it otherwise with me broken nose. Sweet caramelized malt is the general tone.

T: Not mead like, but certainly ringing out honey notes. The honey combines with the caramelized malt and some hops on the climax, resulting in a simple but refreshing honey beer. It's balanced and built well for a honey beer, but it is limited by its simplicity. In this respect, it's somewhat boring.

Mf: Nicely coarse whilst still being refreshing, and quite wet as well. Matches the simple aim of the flavours in the body.

Dr: Relatively high ABV for a honey beer, and very easily drinkable. Quite refreshing. Give it a go, but don't expect a lot.
