500ml swingtop bottle acquired in the Weyermann "Fan Shop" after an English language tour. Cost was 2.50 euro plus a 2.50 euro "pfand" (deposit) which you get back when you return the bottle to the brewery. Reviewed live. Poured into a Kitzmann Weissbier glass.
A: Three finger head of nice cream, good thickness, and good retention. Light copper colour.
Sm: Mild scent of buttery hops and unfermented sugar. Please tell me this isn't another unfermented sugar Weyermann beer...
T: It's not! But dunkel me arse. This isn't a dunkel. Buttery malt - not caramelized, with tones of other assorted hops that don't ring distinctly. Built shite for a dunkel, but balanced. Weyermann needs to sort out their categorization schemes. Feck's sake, lads. Get it fecking sorted, like. Built right for what it is, with just a bit sweet unfermented sugar. I do love the amber hops, all things considered.
Mf: Buttery, smooth, and wet. Alright - fair play. A biteen sharp on the finish.
Dr: Decent ABV, nice drinkability, and a high price by Bamberg standards.
