500ml swingtop bottle acquired in the Weyermann "Fan Shop" after an English language tour. Cost was 2.50 euro plus a 2.50 euro "pfand" (deposit) which you get back when you return the bottle to the brewery. Reviewed live. Poured into a Kitzmann Weissbier glass.
A: One finger head of poor cream, bad thickness, and abysmal retention. The retention is forgivable for the ABV.
Sm: Sweet mother Mary bejaysus, this is damn near straight alcohol. She's like: I'm alcohol! I could sterilize fetuses! A bit aversive.
T: Alcohol, dark esters tainted by alcohol, and unfermented sugar tainted by alcohol. Raspberry? Resembles strongly a liqueur I've had. Me German friend insists it tastes exactly like a nasty Italian post-dinner liqueur called Marsala, though I've never had it. After having this, it sounds like a pretty good post-dinner digestif. It's built shite for the style, but it is certainly balanced. Really is more a liqueur than a beer. Not bad, just not really beer.
Mf: Smooth and wet. No one in their right mind would call it refreshing, but everyone would be grateful that it clears the taste quickly.
Dr: High ABV, easy liqueur drinkability, and decent quality liqueur-wise. Unfortunately, it's just not a beer.
