A-Hazy pale golden yellow with a thin white head that reduced to a thin veil and left spotty lace.

S-Sharp peppery spice and a bit of mustiness underneath. A subtle suggestion of biscuit in the background.

T-Astringent, tongue drying spiciness up front and then a touch of moderating fruity and biscuit malt sweetness. Certainly not much sweetness though as this one finishes dry too.

M-Light bodied, very sharp, crisp with a long lingering spicy, dry finish.

D-A solidly made, light, spicy and dry saison. You best not be afraid of a dry finishing beer with this one! Despite this dryness it is refreshing to a point and easy to drink.

a: This was one of the palest saisons I've ever seen. Unfiltered, so it was pretty hazy as well. Served to me with a short fizzy cap.

s: Bone dry. Musty apricots and old, leafy hops.

t: Dry spiciness up front before a dry apricot finish. Did I mention dry?

m: Crisply carbonated with a long dry finish.

d: I love a dry saison, but this almost went to far. Almost. They do some mighty fine work with saisons at my local IH.

The thin head was already becoming wisps as Elke brought it to me. Color was a hazy honey-yellow. Nose had the distinct peppery, musty scent associated with the style, courtesy of its yeast. Mouthfeel was medium with an intense spicy, peppery dryness that seems to be brewer Paul Rutherford's stock in trade. The finish was Zephyr winds blowing across the Sahara dry. Phew! A great alternative to summer's all-too-prevalent hefeweizens, IMHO.
