Barrel-aged, bottled-conditioned, Dark Saison. aged in French oak red wine barrels for over a year. It's a medium-bodied beer that pours light brown. It has notes of clove, caramel, and pineapple, with some date, oak, hazelnut, and sourdough bread.

A creamy almond head briefly holds one inch before falling to a blanket fairly quickly. A swirl puts up a viscous film that dissolves an occasional colonization of lacing. The beer itself is ruddy copper (SRM 15-18).
Spicy Brettanomyces is fragrant and followed by oak tannins. The spiciness from this beer is enchanting, while light floral notes play peek-a-boo.
The flavor is a sublime melody of earthy spice and toffee. Sweetness is soft and balanced by bitter sourness. All are mild and each is in unison with an earthy nature. The finish is short and mild and a recap of each laid-back sip.
Alcohol is lower than expected, yet clearly present. There is no hint or solvency. The body is light to medium with the texture of taffeta. Carbonation is prickly yet subdued for the style.
This was the right beer for a relaxed, cool, 3rd of July. Sipping out back on a Saturday, one has no worries, as thoughts wander.
