Iris is bursting with pink grapefruit, citrus rind, and mango, with a soft, candy-like sweetness. Bright, juicy, and pillowy, this IPA is as refreshing as the first warm breeze of the season. A perfect companion for longer days, blooming flowers, and patio beers ahead.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Feb 2 2025 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a hazy, turbid, pale golden-orange colour, graced with more than an inch of bumpy, foamy white head. Great retention - nearly ten minutes later, it has been worn down to a frothy collar and thin cap, with a narrow band of lace sticking to the glass. Its citrusy aroma of lime peel, lemon, grapefruit and bergamot is punctuated with hints of floral, grassy hops, spruce and green mango. Thumbs up so far.
Very tasty, and quite juicy: I'm getting peach & ripe mango at the forefront, with grapefruit & lime joining the fray soon afterwards; bready malts and oats provide some background support. Finishes pithy and floral, with some resiny bitterness that lingers momentarily into a citrusy aftertaste. Medium-full in body, with assertive carbonation that lends a prickly frothiness to this brew's smooth, fulfilling mouthfeel. Awesome drinkability; I could definitely toss back a couple of these.
Final Grade: 4.13, an A-. This can of Iris is getting long in the tooth, but it seems to have held up much better than hazy IPAs tend to, at least in my experience. I'd love to try this fresh, but I'll have to wait until they brew another batch - this seems to be a spring seasonal, so my recommendation is to look for this in early 2026 and try it ASAP. In the meantime, I think I'll put together an online order to see what else Slake has to offer... I've only had two beers (including this one) from this brewery, which is admittedly a small sample size, but I was impressed with both.
