Nitro pour at Grid City. Dark amber pour with a silky beige head. Nice toasty, malty aroma. Taste is toasty, bready, malty, mild sweetness with the nitro adding a sublime creaminess that really brings it all together. Well done.

Brewery: Grid City Beer Works
Location: SLC, UT
Style: Brown Ale
ABV: 4.6%

After the delightful experience with Grid City's Kolsch, I'm eagerly anticipating my second beer from this brewery. I've chosen to serve it in a Belcher glass at 44 degrees. The pour resulted in a frothy and airy two-fingered tan head with fair retention. The somewhat slow dissipation left some lacing on the glass. The color, a rich SRM 22, is a dark brown with reddish mahogany hues, clear and devoid of carbonation bubbles. The above-average appearance exudes an elegant appeal.
Nosing the glass, I smell a lovely malt complex, light hops, caramel, a skosh of phenols, molasses, and earthiness. The malt profile is bready, doughy, roasty, and light char note. The hops are subtle floral esters and a hint of herbal. The brown ale is straightforward and aligns well with the style.
The beer tastes like the aromas but has more depth and complexity. The malt profile is on display here with a roasty, doughy, toasted bread crust and light char notes. The hops are floral, with a light herbal and wood note. I taste caramel, molasses, phenolic, and earthy flavors.
The mouthfeel is creamy and soft with a smooth finish. The body is medium-light and has medium carbonation.
This brown ale is truly crushable. The beer's low ABV is not immediately apparent despite its full flavor. The sophistication of the malt profile adds depth and character to the beer, while the hops, with their subtle presence, contribute to a well-balanced brew. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer and am grateful for my proximity to the brewery.
