Had on tap at the brewery.
On arrival, a fine just barely off white head was present that receded to a thick cap and some nice lacing. Body is an amber-brown with a bit of haze.
Aroma is fruity but in a British way. Dark and sweet with a bit of rasin and plum. Tye malts aren't super big in the aroma but they are nice and sweet with a touch of caramel.
The taste comes with some hop bitterness that balances the sweet caramel malts quite nicely. Not nutty but the dark fruity notes as well as a bready flavor comes through.
Feel is full bodied but drinkable. A nice sipper for fall, but I may be biased as that's how I'm drinking it now. Seems like it would also be nice with a nice dinner, just not the most refreshing beer, but that's the style. Finish is long, but surprisingly dry.
Overall this is a tasty balanced slightly yeasty and nicely malty ESB. Not the most English example of a craft bitter, but still a nice example of the style to try out.
