Farmhouse Ale

Stopped in at the Farm Club at about 7 on a weekday night in early July hoping to eat some dinner as well as drink some beers, but the wait was 2 hours, so I grabbed a sixer of 12 oz cans of this farmhouse ale and hit the road. This is an interesting and unique beer. Having had five of them, I'm still not entirely sure what I think. Pours a dull slightly hazy gold, with a pretty decent 1 finger head, decent retention. Some rustic toasted grain and earthy/grassy flavors, even though it's also pretty bright and has a little mineral-like finish. Definitely some yeast-character that pervades the entire mouthful. Nothing sweet here. Nice snappy clean finish, without losing its earthy qualities. It's simultaneously pretty simple and pretty interesting, so I'm giving it some points for that alone. Reminds me that I really like beers in this style -- seems like it's pretty hard to find much of in the Twin Cities.

 

Lots of malt and bread flavors. Pours a gold/light amber color. Smell is all toast and wheat, flavor follows suit. Delicious, simple, drinkable, refreshing. Will drink more
