Farm Club

 

Very cool setting and great vibe, out in the middle of orchard and farm land, but only a 10 minute drive from Traverse City. I've been here two summers in a row, but last year we got there later in the evening and were told it would be a 2 hour wait for a table, so I bought a sixer and we left. This year we got there an hour after they opened for lunch, and decided to wait for an hour. Servers are really attentive -- at least in summer, the place seems so busy that it wasn't really possible to ask them much about the beer. But....the beer is excellent and the food is very good as well -- everything tastes and feels very farm-fresh. Selection, not counting the ciders they also have, (compared to other really great places) isn't huge but the coverage is great: they had two lagers (czech and schwarz), three farmhouse ales, and a bitter, a "bright little pale" and a hazy pale. Abv's were low, from 3.7% (the bitter) to 5.4% (one of the farmhouse ales...the hazy was an outlier at 6.2), which is absolutely fine by me but might give pause to some BAs.

 

Visited on a Tuesday afternoon. Was surprised at how crowded it was since it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Small bar and indoor seating area but a large outdoor seating area. Friendly staff. Unusual rotating beer selection. Working farm; they sell produce, etc. Large parking area.

This place was perfect to me. Out of the way location in a sprawling field surrounded by national forest. Ambient lighting in and out. Rough cut lumber accents. Original paintings indoors, plenty of farm fresh food on the menu and for purchase is their store as well as cans for purchase. Staff was awesome, very nice and helpful. Awesome style to this place and very homey and relaxing, no loud music or craziness. Loved it here and will definitely be back
