Appearance: Clear pale gold, white frothy head with good retention.
Aroma: bready malt, floral hops
Flavor & Aftertaste: Bready and grainy malt with spicy, herbal hops. Moderate bitterness. Low sweetness.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied. Drying. Crisp medium length finish with a snappy bitterness trailing.
Overall: This is an excellent example of German Pilsner. Head retention is a good. Has a floral hops bouquet on the nose. Starts out malty but quickly transitions to spicy hops and a moderate bitterness. Clean fermentation profile. Crisp and clean at the finish with a snappy bitterness lingering into the aftertaste. German Pilsners seem to have lost some of their bitterness over the years. This one leans into what I would call the old school style where the bitterness is prominent, but not offensive or overwhelming. It does lack the soft, minerally mouthfeel of many German imports but that is probably due to difference in water. Hard to duplicate the German water profile. Very well executed - specially for an American craft beer brewery.
